About
Jake was born in London in 1997. Not too long after, Jake’s family moved to Kent where he spent his formative years growing up in a small town surrounded by fields and woodlands. Exploring the area gave Jake a sense of the beauty in nature and how people can impact the land both historically and today.
In 2016 Jake bought himself a cheap point and shoot film camera. A few years later Jake upgraded to a vintage SLR camera and found using this engaged him in the process making the whole experience more enjoyable. Not long after the pandemic took hold and Jake found himself stuck at home and so began walking the local area daily and taking pictures as a means to explore and make sense of this new reality. Photography had Jake hooked.
Having studied photography at the University of the West of England, Jake continues to live in Bristol. Jake’s practice explores stories relating to people, community and the environments they inhabit.
Jake has found his love for portraiture and looks to develop this as part of his commercial career. Moreover, Jake wants to explore local and nationwide stories that can be seen in publications in print and online.
